Making the Viral TikTok Pasta

I will admit I don’t actually have a TikTok. However, when one of my favorite websites Gimmesomeoven posted their version of this viral recipe, I knew I had to try it for myself. The original recipe can be found here and the Gimmesomeoven recipe can be found here

It’s all about the sauce:
The recipe uses double the amount of tomatoes originally called for. When the cherry tomatoes burst they make a sauce with a fresh acidity.

Seasoned to Perfection
Feta can be salty so I was nervous the whole dish would just taste like salt. However, when mixed with the pasta, basil, and tomatoes, the dish was perfectly seasoned. I added a little salt to the tomatoes and to the pasta when it cooked. Besides that I didn’t need additional salt.

Made with Ease
Scatter some tomatoes around a block of feta. Bake. Cook pasta. Mix. Done. So easy. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or cozy weekend dish.

What I left out:
-In the gimmesomeoven recipe, I left out the white wine (didn’t have) and spinach (didn’t feel like buying) but you can certainly add if you’d like.

Leftover ingredients??
-You only need 8 oz pasta (half the box). In regards to the feta, you only need a 7-8 oz block. Most blocks I saw at the grocery store were 14-16oz so make sure you don’t use too much by accident (read your labels :))

About the garlic..
-The garlic had a bit of a raw bite to it once mixed with the dish. It dulled as it warmed through, but if you think it might bother you, cook the garlic in some oil until golden before mixing.

The Beautiful Photography…
There is a reason most photos of this dish are taken before the dish is mixed together or after it has been “lightly” mix. It is not exactly the prettiest dish in the world once combined. However, it is SO TASTY

Add some protein??
The look of this dish reminded me of the look of buffalo chicken dip. Mixing in some cooked chicken, shrimp, or even steak would add some heartiness.

The Verdict: Would I make this again?
A resounding YES! I made it because it seemed fun. However, I thought it was delicious. The dish’s greatest strengths are that there are enough tomatoes to make a delicious sauce. Additionally, it is perfectly seasoned. Remember, you only need half a box of pasta and likely half a block of feta. It would be more then easy to whip up a second time.
