Two Items to Up Your Kitchen Game
Cooking is a transitional thing sometimes. Our food preferences change as we try new foods. Sometimes our cooking habits change as we enhance our skills. In today’s post I bring you two kitchen items that will enhance your kitchen know-how. I use these two items time and time again and am confident that they will be a strong addition to your kitchen.
1. Bench Scraper: The #1 function I use a bench scraper for is transferring chopped vegetables to a pot for soup. That in itself is worth the investment every time. Gone are the days that you transfer vegetables by cupping them in your hands (and dropping some carrots along the way). Also gone are the (more dangerous days) of balancing them on the blade of your knife. Bench scrapers are wide enough that you can transfer vegetables (or other small food items) in just a quick moments time. Bench scrapers can also be used for dividing bread dough. I prefer the sturdiness of the stainless steel bench scrapers over the plastic ones. Click here to order a bench scraper for yourself.
2. Oven Thermometer: For the longest time I thought the oven temperature was used as a plot point on Chopped to explain why a food item would not be cooked in time. Little did I know there is validity to having a well-calibrated oven (or knowing how to manipulate its temperature). I beg you. If you love to bake, please invest in an oven thermometer. You place it in your oven and it gives you an accurate, real-time reading of your oven temperature. My oven temperature at home fluctuates a lot. There have been times I have preheated my oven to 375 and my oven thermometer has read 400 degrees. This has a drastic effect on your finished bake good. The solution is to change your oven temperature until the oven thermometer matches your desired temperature. Click here to order an oven thermometer for yourself.
Our kitchen habits change the more we move through life. The bench scraper and oven thermometer are two items I have found I use again and again. Please consider purchasing these items as they will help you become a kitchen rockstar. What’s one kitchen item you can’t live without?
