Baking Lately #2
Hello all,
This year has been a really great baking year so far! My goal is to post more to this blog since I love sharing my thoughts and experiences with all of you! Not sure if it will be on a particular schedule, but when in doubt, write it out. Here are some of my fav bakes from the year as well as some bakes I hope to accomplish before years end!
Cake, cake, cake:
This year I have baked 6 cakes- which is starting to be my most frequent bake throughout the year. 4 of those cakes have been Cake4Kids deliveries, 1 was a Cake4Kids Bake Off & Auction Item, and 1 was my friends wedding cake! My Cake4Kids cakes included themes of camping, gemini, dogs, and Fortnite! My goal is to bake and deliver at least 2 more cakes before the end of the year, though I am aiming for 2-4 more!
Bread! Bread is by far my favorite thing to bake! And I love love anything with texture so I absolutely devoured Sally’s Seeded Oat Bread No kneading and lots of hands off time leads to a delicious loaf with minimal effort (the best kind!
Blueberry Cobbler- Ugh! This cobbler! I made it for the first time in June and immediately knew I was going to bake it again for the 4th of July. The perfect sweetness + the perfect texture= bakers kiss! The recipe can be found at the website Once Upon a Chef ( I love her recipes, especially the desserts!) My goal is to make this blueberry cobbler at least one more time while berries are in season OR to bake her peach cobbler recipe ( I love peaches)
Looking forward to the rest of 2024: Sooo many things I want to bake coming up! I’ve made some variations of this Strawberry Sheet Cake from Smitten Kitchen previous summers and want to do that again before September. Once the fall hits I am going to be R-E-A-D-Y to bake Sally’s Baked Apple Cider Donuts (one of my fav fall flavors). And I need to whip out my Baker Bettie’s Better Baking Book and make the most divine banana cream pie (nilla wafer crust is the way to go!!)
Sometimes the work from home life makes it difficult to draw inspiration and I do feel like my baking volume has waned a bit this year. This is why I look forward to sharing more on this blog- even if it is just cool recipes I come across that I want to try. I really enjoy writing and expressing myself and want to do more of that!
Can’t wait to chat more- let’s get our bake on!!
